Technology Use in Education

Technology has numerous advantages for schooling. Teachers can utilize technology to customize instruction to meet the requirements of each student by using it to help them learn in novel and engaging ways, foster teamwork and communication skills, or make learning more accessible.

How technology has evolved over time in schooling. A wide range of tools fall under the category of technology in education. During this decade, computers transitioned from being a cutting-edge technology to a widely available consumer good. Information and communication technology (ICT) was mandated for all students in state schools starting in 1988 by the Education Reform Act.

Every day, millions of kids use technology in classrooms all across the world. Modern technology is already a permanent fixture in education, serving a variety of purposes from sparking students’ imaginations to sparing teachers’ time.

You can see that technology in education has only advanced in one direction when you look back on it. There was no such thing as digital technology in education before to the 1980s. Both augmented and virtual reality in education open a whole new world of opportunities for teachers and pupils. That applies to all age groups and ability levels. From as young as 4 years, VR can be used to transport children to the settings of books to make reading more immersive and spark their imaginations even more. At a later stage, the tools are still invaluable to engage students in important topics from the curriculum such as the Battle of Britain, and, in turn, spark more meaningful discussions. Virtual reality is also hugely effective tool for students with special educational needs. Used as a form of assistive technology, it has been found to engage children who struggle with intrinsic motivation, for example, as well as building up confidence ahead of new experiences with personalized 360 videos.
